WEEK TWO

OM, Yoga Community and Guests,


We are into week two of Deaf North's October session.


Week One recap:

Yogi and community met with different yoga teachers of Deaf North.

If you haven't met them, take one of their classes.

Laura Perez- ASL Yoga teacher teaches on Tuesdays.

Tanya Arrington- DeafBlind Yoga teacher, teaches on Thursdays.

Jessica Humphrey - ASL Mindful Meditation class, teaches on Mondays.

Jessalyn Akerman-Frank- Deaf Yoga teacher, teaches all week except for Tuesdays.


Our weekly challenge- Purpose of the challenges is to continue to explore and deepen our understanding of our connections to our mind, body and soul. There are so many ways to do this in addition to yoga. Last week our Deaf North Yogis were asked to explore Labyrinths through reading, visiting one, learning what it means, through Art and sharing with others.

Week two: Catch your lucky leaf!

What is this? It is as basic as you are reading. Catch your lucky LEAF.

How am I suppose to do that? There are many ways and here are our suggestions.

Go outside under a tree or many. Go to the woods. Go to your back yard. Go on your walk.

Look up, as you know, Fall is here. Practice patience. View all the leaves, it's shapes and forms. Take in nature, deep breaths of air, and like a child, PLAY. As a leaf falls, catch it. If it touches the floor, wait and try for another one. When you finally catch that leaf. It is yours for the month. Bring it home with you or to your car, or office.


Purpose of activity:


1. Nature.

2. Looking at nature closely.

3. The art of playing.

4. Letting go.

5. Being silly.

6. Appreciation.

7. The feelings you have during this experience.

8. Whatever you decide, feel and make of the experience.

Chair Yoga at 7:00 a.m.

Mindful Meditation at 7:00 p.m.


Tuesday:

Sun Salutations at 7:00 a.m.

Gentle Yoga at 7:00 p.m.


Wednesday:

Core Yoga and Flow at 7:00 a.m.

Chair Yoga at 6:00 p.m.


Thursday:

Detox Yoga at 7:00 a.m.


Friday:

Yoga Stretch and Flow at 7:00 a.m.


Saturday:

Core Yoga and Flow (*90 Minute session) 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
